Security systems, building automation systems, energy control, and lighting systems have all advanced rapidly in recent years. However, despite claims of these disparate systems being integrated to work seamlessly with each other, there has not been much progress due to lack of a common communication standard, says Memoori.
We say: If we are to wait for a common communication standard that is adopted by all vendors we will have to wait for quite some time. We cannot foresee the merge or replacement of e.g. Z-Wave, Zigbee, LoRa, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc, since they all have their different strengths and use cases.
The solution is in-stead integration of all these standards into a common API and data model. Adding an abstraction layer between the services and applications on top and the underlying technologies installed in the building. Very much like how modern computers can work with any printer manufacturer. The application can print without knowing how the printer works.
This is the purpose and strength of our IoT integration platform Yggio for Smart Buildings and Cities.
