Desk occupancy sensor

Strips Presence

The ultra-thin desk occupancy sensor: active infrared presence detection that mounts invisibly under a desk or seat, with no cameras and over ten years of battery life.

Strips Presence detects people and objects at close range using active infrared (configurable up to 50 cm) and reports desk or seat occupancy over LoRaWAN. Under 3 mm thick and adhesive-mounted, it disappears under a desk, a bench or a shelf. There is no camera and no microphone: the sensor knows only whether something is there.

It is the workhorse of hot-desking and space-utilisation projects, and it doubles as an asset sensor for paintings and other valuables. A temperature sensor is built in, and a magnet sensor reads the +Switch accessory, a slider a user can flick to order desk cleaning.

  • No cameras: Active infrared reports occupied or free. Nothing that identifies a person is ever captured.
  • Invisible installation: Adhesive-mounted under the desk or seat; the 3 mm profile is never seen by the people using the space.
  • Order cleaning with +Switch: Add the +Switch accessory and the same strip becomes a slider that requests a desk clean.
  • Space data for Yggio: Occupancy feeds room booking, cleaning on demand and utilisation reports through the Yggio rule engine.
  • Strips +Switch: A sliding button that clips onto any Strips for LoRaWAN. Slide it to order a service, start a scene or switch a device, and the sensor becomes an actuator too. Details
  • Strips +Clip: A mounting clip for Strips: holds the sensor close to rough surfaces such as concrete, brick or untreated wood where adhesive will not stick, and lets you move it without leaving a trace. Details
