Background

The smart home has become an installation of devices from many suppliers, each with its own security model and much of it handling personal and sensitive data. Many devices use custom, proprietary security solutions that were never designed to work together, which leaves the overall system weaker than any of its parts.

SIFIS-Home addressed this with a consistent, secure-by-design software framework spanning all stack levels, enabling security-aware and accountable applications and making it possible to detect and dynamically react to attacks, intrusion attempts and violations of user-defined policies.

Sensative’s role

Sensative contributed sensor hardware and the integration experience of connecting devices from many vendors into one system, which is where a security framework proves itself.

The project ran under Horizon 2020’s SU-ICT-02-2020 call with 13 partners from six countries.
