Background

A digital service for an apartment building, such as laundry booking, indoor climate or energy feedback, has to reach the building’s systems and sensors to work. In 2015 that meant a bespoke integration per property, which made it impossible to build a service once and sell it to many property owners.

The project aimed to establish an open platform with a public API that service providers could develop against, so the integration work would be done once rather than repeatedly.

Sensative’s role

Sensative took part in this short project, funded with 361 000 SEK through the strategic innovation programme for the Internet of Things and coordinated by MAPCI at Lund University.

The problem it framed, one open interface for a building instead of one integration per service, is the problem Yggio was later built to solve at city and portfolio scale.
