Background

Building automation has traditionally been delivered as a closed package: the control system, the field devices and the service contract come from one supplier, and the data stays inside that system. A property owner who wants a new service usually has to buy it from whoever installed the original system.

The project developed the open alternative: standardised interfaces and data models that let a property owner combine devices, control systems and services from different suppliers and still keep one coherent operational picture.

Sensative and Yggio

This is the problem Yggio was built for, and Sensative took part with both the platform and its wireless sensors. The project ran as a Vinnova challenge-driven innovation stage-2 collaboration coordinated by RISE, with participants from across the property and electrification industries.

Work in the project fed into the industry-wide effort on shared property data models that Sensative also pursued through Fastighetsdatalabbet.
