Background

Norra Djurgårdsstaden is one of Europe’s largest urban development areas and an explicit sustainability profile district, which makes it a natural place to test whether connected sensing actually improves how a city is built and run.

The project demonstrated technical IoT capability in that setting and also produced valuable insights into what municipal IoT implementation requires organisationally, not only technically.

Sensative and Yggio

Sensative supplied sensors and the platform layer. A city district accumulates devices from many procurements over many years, so the durable question is not which sensor to buy but how to keep them all readable through one interface as they come and go.

The project was funded through Vinnova’s IoT för innovativ samhällsutveckling programme with around 11.8 MSEK, and led on to the City of Stockholm’s continued IoT platform work, in which Sensative remains a partner today through RESCUE.
