SENSATIVE and CIVITY implement the City Innovation Platform to help the Stockholm region to open up their data
The new Open Data initiative in the Stockholm region, where the City of Stockholm and Storsthlm, (formerly KSL, the municipalities of Stockholm Region) are important actors, aims to strengthen the work with open data in the region’s 26 municipalities.
The purpose is to identify and use common standards for open data, making more open data available and stimulating companies to use the local government data.
The Open Data will be accessible to entrepreneurs, organizations and citizens through a portal that will be provided by Sensative together with their partner Civity. All municipalities will be able to upload and publish datasets to the City Innovation Platform in a simple and easy to use manner.

Civity’s City Innovation Platform is the leading horizontal Smart City platform in the Netherlands, used in more than 30 municipalities and provinces e.g. The Hague, Utrecht, Groningen, and many more. The platform provides an open, integrated solution for managing data in a secure way, based on FIWARE. The platform supports all types of data, like real time sensor data, geographical data and sensitive, internal data. With the City Innovation Platform organizations have full control of their own data.
“There is an enormous growth in data. Making that data available for reuse in new innovative applications requires an open, scalable and proven platform. Concerns regarding security, privacy and ethics need to be addressed. We need to develop this in collaboration and exchange our knowledge. We are glad that we can bring our experiences with Dutch municipalities to Sweden. There is a lot that we can learn from each other.” says Arjen Hof of Civity.
Mats Pettersson, CEO of Sensative, adds, “Partnering with the right organization is essential to innovation. By the partnership with Civity we now have the possibility to offer strong solutions in the Open Data field, as a complement to our own IoT integration platform, all to benefit our new and existing customers. We are very happy that Stockholm has chosen to extend our cooperation with this project.”
