IoT use cases: Water Leak detection

Water is a significant risk in buildings

The average per-incident cost for water damage repair is between €8,000 to €13,000 but can be considerably higher. Or it can be much lower using IoT sensors and connectivity.

Today we rely on facility managers or tenants to detect and report a water leak in the building, but most of the time, the leaks occur gradually or when least expected. Sometimes the water leaks happen in places where no one regularly checks, so it can take a long time before it is even detected. In addition, a repair is costly and causes problems for tenants, where the landlord must provide alternative housing during the repair.

Water leak detection with IoT

A water leak that is detected early could avoid expensive repair and cumbersome processes. Using wireless sensors with long battery life, you can stay in control, reduce the risk of costly repairs, and make sure you stay on top of any problems in an early phase, even in hard-to-reach spaces like basements or attics.

Simultaneously, these sensors are just as suitable to use in bathrooms, kitchens, washing rooms, air conditioners, or wherever a leak might occur. Furthermore, by receiving reports and following water leak alarms in real-time, the system will directly inform users when any signs of a water leak occur, giving users the possibility to remedy the issue immediately before costly damages happen.
